The Solo Select with External Clock is part of the Solo Select Family of
intelligent DSUs and was specifically designed for those customers who
require enhanced data through-put integrity. The Solo Select with External
Clock is offered with a BNC connection to support an external clock with
1544 KHz (T1 version) or 2048 KHz (E1 version) input. This capability lets
you use your own accurate external clock to synchronize the DSU with external
serial devices, such as encryption devices or video/audio codecs.
Furthermore, the Solo Select with External Clock comes with an user level
security feature that lets you define up to nine management access levels to the
CSU/DSU terminal user interface configuration menus. For example, each access
level can be designated for each support function such as network administrator,
on-site technical support, tester, or system engineer. In addition, a UDP
version of RFC868 will provide a simple protocol for synchronizing date and
time clocks.
Optional feature key(s) are used to activate the RMON-based performance
monitoring and management features (see optional intelligence).
The Solo Select with External Clock is available both as a stand-alone
device as well as a chassis-based version.
