The 4840 G.SHDSL Access Platform™ takes advantage of the latest G.SHDSL technology - Extended Rate Bonded G.SHDSL (G.SHDSL.bis) - offering unprecedented possibilities for symmetric transmission over ordinary copper lines.
The DL4840 comes equipped with four G.SHDSL ports, supporting 5.69Mbps (1 pair / 2-wire mode) or up to 11.38Mbps (2 pair / 4-wire mode) symmetrical data throughput over copper per port in G.SHDSL.bis mode. The DL4840’s G.SHDSL ports can be used as individual ports or bundled together in a virtual pipe, enabling maximum throughput rates of up to 45Mbps.
The DL4840 can be deployed using a variety of network topologies such as point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, multipoint-daisy-chain, star or ring.
The DL4840 G.SHDSL Access Platform offers sophisticated management and diagnostic tools as well as enhanced security features (e.g. Radius Authentication, user level authorization, password, user name) to support extensive enterprise networks.
The versatility of the DL4840 is reflected by the fact that the device supports bridging, static routing, and dynamic routing all in one box. Furthermore, a built-in four-port Ethernet switch enables the end user to deploy several applications at the same time.
The DL4840 G.SHDSL Access Platform also provides 802.1q VLAN tag marking (stripping / tagging) and forwarding, Layer-2 (Ethernet priority) and Layer-3 (DiffServ) Quality of Service with six forwarding classes, Spanning Tree / Rapid Spanning Tree (provides automatic fault tolerance and redundant ring topology for critical applications), superior noise immunity, multi-port bonding and branch-off capabilities, and an environmentally hardened design.
