Vinita Gupta, Chairman

Vinita Gupta's entrepreneurial career has been characterized by risk taking, perseverance, and the ability to dive in and grasp new business disciplines. Mrs. Gupta founded Digital Link Corporation (now Quick Eagle Networks) in May 1985, and has been the company's chairman since its inception. She served as the CEO of the company from 1985 to 1996 and then from 1998 to May 2004. As the founder and CEO, she has been credited with being the first Indian-origin-woman to take her company public in 1994.

From March 1978 to February 1985, Mrs. Gupta held various engineering management positions at Bell Northern Research, Inc. (now part of Nortel Networks). Prior to that she was an engineer with GTE Lenkurt. Mrs. Gupta’s legendary reputation as a woman entrepreneur in the Silicon Valley is documented by several honors she received by women’s organizations and publications including Working Woman and the San Francisco Business Times. While active in Silicon Valley business, Mrs. Gupta still makes time to help the causes in her community that are important to her. For instance, Mrs. Gupta is supporting the Asian Pacific Fund as one out of many charities because she values the work the Fund is doing to help the community and to help others give back. She also serves as Chairman of Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute. Born in India, Mrs. Gupta attended the University of Roorkee, where she received a Bachelor's degree in electronics and communications in 1973. She came to the United States in 1974 and earned her Master's degree of science in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. 

Naresh C. Kapahi, CEO & President

Naresh C. Kapahi is chief executive officer, president, and member of the board of directors. In his role as chief executive officer he is responsible for the overall direction and management of Quick Eagle. In addition, he is also assessing technology trends, and defining new product requirements as well as ensuring that the operating strategies align with the corporate objectives. A certified public accountant with more than 26 years of financial expertise, Kapahi joined Quick Eagle -- then Digital Link Corporation -- in June 1999 after serving as vice president of finance and operations at University Games Corporation in Burlingame, Calif. While there, he orchestrated the acquisition of three companies, which became strong revenue contributors to University's bottom line. Kapahi held executive-level management positions in finance, operations, and administration at Oakland-based Manetti-Farrow, Inc. and Wright Line, Inc. in Massachusetts – companies, which he guided in their return to profitability. Kapahi holds a master's of business administration degree from Suffolk University in Boston, a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Delhi in India.  


Dr. Narendra Gupta

Dr. Naren Gupta has served on the board of Digital Link since its inception in 1985. Dr. Gupta has been a Managing Director of Nexus India Capital, a venture capital investment firm, since 2006. Previously, he was founder, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Systems, Inc. and also served as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Wind River from June 2003 to January 2004. Dr. Gupta currently serves as a director of Red Hat, Inc., an open source solutions software company, TIBCO Software Inc., a business integration and process management software company, Wind River Systems, a device software company, and several other privately-held companies and non-profit organizations. Dr. Gupta holds a B. Tech. degree from the India Institute of Technology, an M.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University, all in engineering. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1991.


Richard C. Alberding

Richard (Dick) C. Alberding retired from the Hewlett-Packard Company in June 1991, serving at that time as an executive vice president with responsibility for worldwide company sales, support and administration activities for measurement and computation products, as well as all corporate-level marketing activities. He served on HP's five-person executive committee. Mr. Alberding joined Hewlett-Packard in 1958, and held numerous positions during his long career for the company, including customer service manager, international manufacturing manager, general manager of HP Inter-Americas, managing director of HP S.A., general manager of HP's medical products business unit, vice president, senior vice president responsible for HP's International Operations, and finally, executive vice president, a post he held until retirement. Born in Elgin, Illinois, Mr. Alberding earned a degree in business administration/marketing in 1953 from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He received a degree in electrical engineering from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago in 1958 and attended Stanford University and INSEADS', France, Advanced Studies Programs. In addition to holding a seat on the board of Quick Eagle Networks, he is a director of DMC Stratex, PC-Tel, Inc., and Sybase.


Lee Bauman

Lee Bauman is co-founder and CFO of Wing Haven (www.winghaven.org), a non-profit organization that provides support to battered women and their children. Wing Haven is unique in the country in providing life rebuilding support for women, who have no hope of change of their life threatening situation. Mr. Bauman is also president and CEO of Advativ. Prior to 2005, Mr. Bauman was president and CEO of AirZip, Inc. (a leader in software products for Enterprise Information Digital Rights Management), vice president of network services for Telera (Internet-based business communications services), and president and CEO of Alacrity Communications, Inc. (a leader in integrated voice, data, and video switching semiconductor solutions markets). He was a leader in the successful sale of all three of these companies. From 1997 to 1999 Mr. Bauman was the senior vice president and founder of PHB-Hagler Bailly's global telecommunications consulting practice. Mr. Bauman held a number of positions at Pacific Telesis from 1990 to 1997, including vice president of local competition, vice president of the business market group, vice president and general manager of national accounts, and vice president of network technology and engineering, as well as vice president of strategy and planning. He was the senior vice president of PacTel Info Systems, and the president of PacTel Meridian Systems. Mr. Bauman also worked for Northern Telecom from 1979 to 1986, where he was vice president of the Western region, vice president of distributor marketing, as well as director of U.S. marketing for PBX systems. Mr. Bauman began his career with Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he worked from 1968 to 1979. He holds a Master's of Business degree from Stanford University, an MSEE and Computer Science degree from the University of Colorado, an MSME degree from Rutger's University, and a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati.


Stephen Von Rump

Stephen Von Rump is CEO and president of Be Here Corporation, the leading provider of immersive optical and image processing technology, currently developing a center-of-table appliance that integrates voice, video and data into a single device. He was formerly CEO of Metreos Corporation, a provider of VoIP enterprise applications, and CEO of VTEL Corporation, a leading provider of visual communications solutions. Prior to VTEL, Mr. Von Rump spent 12 years at MCI Corporation in various technical and business management positions. As vice president of MCI's enterprise services business, he was responsible for the company's highly successful data and Internet services strategy and was a founder of internetMCI. Mr. Von Rump began his career as a member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories. He serves on several boards, has authored numerous technical and marketing publications and has been a featured speaker at conferences around the world. Mr. Von Rump holds an MSEE from Washington University.
